It time to crank up another Q&A for the TMITuesdayBlog (March 17, 2020). As always, I may be answering questions about sex and life in general. Wanna join in? Read the info below this post to find out how.
1. Assume that in the future there will be huge leaps in human augmentation. Given a scale from completely human to completely machine, how far would you choose to augment yourself with robotics? What parts would you augment and why?
ANSWER: I’d augment my eyes. First of all…I always enjoy pondering a Sci-Fi question that has philosophical ramifications. Personally, I don’t know that I’d augment anything, being as I’m not one to undergo unnecessary surgeries. Still, for the sake of considering that I would…I think it would be cool to augment my eyes for better/enhanced vision for the ability to adjust for better than 20/20 vision for normal, microscopic, night-darkness, heat-sensing, and X-ray vision. I might also consider augmenting my skeleton and or joints for increased durability and strength, mainly because I love to workout and play sports.
However, this question brings to mind all sorts of ideas for erotic fiction. Can you imagine if a person opted to have robotically-enhanced genitals?! That would make for an interestingly sexy bit of fiction, wouldn’t it!
*Furiously scribbles down notes about a story with a main character who has robotic genitals, then moves on to the next question.*
2. In your community, are events, school, and large gatherings forbidden or cancelled due to COVID-19?
ANSWER: They sure are! Every public learning center, community center, library, gathering place, and/or event in my town is closed for the next few weeks. Silver lining: I’ll have a lot more time to hangout with my online peeps…and for once, I won’t have to feel bad about it.
3. Has your work schedule changed due to COVID-19–i.e., onsite work changed to teleworking or shortened shifts or no work at all?
ANSWER: Nope. I’m self-employed and work from home all the time. Still, I have noted little changes…like there are a lot more people who are home, so the volume of social media and app notifications has increased, resulting in more interruptions during the formally quieter ‘8 to 5’ hours. Further, now that I can’t escape to my local library or café to work, I find myself doing more housework at times when I would normally be working.
4. What gets too much attention in the news?
ANSWER: Negativity and social divisiveness. It’s one of the reasons why I limit how much news I have access too. If I hear about something that’s of immediately importance, I go to a trusted source for further information.
5. How do you get your news?
ANSWER: Breaking news headlines and trending tweets. Being as I’m online A LOT, I am usually well aware of what’s going on. I just opt to pick and choose what information I absolutely need to be informed about and ignore the rest. Having got rid of cable years ago, so I’m no longer tempted to waste time watching for news cycles all day and having to listen to a bunch of nonsense while waiting for updates.
BONUS: Do you celebrate St. Patrick’s Day? This year how will you celebrate?
ANSWER: Not really, no. Other than making sure I have on a bit of green on the day, I rarely do anything on St. Patrick’s Day. It’s always seemed like a ‘holiday’ for alcohol-drinkers, of which I’ve never been one. So, this year, I’ll do what everyone else is doing…staying home and do my part not to aid in the spread of infectious viruses.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone!
Stay home and be safe!
